A variation on three-berry jam

The jam-making is continuing. Today, we decided to make three-berry jam but the shortage of strawberries and their replacement with blackcurrants meant we had to revise our long-standing recipe.

Despite the best efforts of the cold and overcast weather, our soft fruit crops are ripening reasonably well. We started harvesting blackcurrants today, turning the first ones into blackcurrant jam.

The weather has turned chilly over the past couple of days, so we’ve stepped up the harvest and started stripping all the remaining soft fruit from their bushes. It was the turn of the gooseberries today, with the Other Half and I steadfastly ignoring a swarm of wasps to pick the last 1.5kg of berries. [...]
