I received a large bundle of paperwork in the post on Christmas Eve. The letter was from the Scottish Government’s Environmental Quality Directorate; Water, Air, Soils and Flooding Division. It details the mandatory measures required by the revised Action Programme to limit nitrate pollution from agricultural sources in the designated Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZs).

Yesterday, I was working in the vegetable patch dressed in a boiler suit, shirt, trousers, single pair of socks and my wellies.
