WordPress provides a recommended list of tags that might be of use when contextualising a blog post.
It’s a useful feature. I usually adopt most of the suggestions before adding a few of my own tags to cover omissions or provide better contextulisation.
Sometimes, though, the WordPress suggestions provoke hilarity because of their logical incongruence.
When I wrote yesterday’s blog post about Gus, our Berkshire boar, half the suggested tags matched the subject matter:
- Livestock
- Pigs
- Video
- YouTube
- Berkshire
The remaining tag recommendations were hilarious in the way they tied a video of a pig snuffling to current British political events:
- Liam Fox
- Gus O’Donnell
- Ministry of Defence
- Ministerial Code
- Cabinet Secretary
- David Cameron
It’s not surprising I’ve stuck with WordPress for so long. It even has a functional, random humour generator.

Who knew WordPress had a humour generator. I’ll have to try it out!
