Rain was lashing down as I fed the pigs this evening.
Then, as I walked up the hill to the sow field, the sun broke through to the west and a rainbow burst into life over the croft.
I dashed back to the house, popped the long lens hood on the camera and stuffed the camera into a plastic freezer bag with just the end of the hood was projecting from it.
I ran back up the hill to see if I could capture the rainbow.
I succeeded, although the combination of a less than adequate wide-angle lens and heavy rain driving directly into the lens somewhat spoiled the effect.
Still, without the rain, there would be no rainbow.

Beautiful shot!
It would have been if I’d had a 10mm wide angle and the rain hadn’t been driving towards me. As it is, it’s acceptable for capturing the moment but no more than that.
its not just a rainbow, its a double raindbow!
It’s a double rainbow, but I can almost convince myself there’s a hint of a third.
Agree with Frank.
beautiful, must have been breathtaking in real life
Beautiful.
And also, without the rain this country wouldn’t be half so green (or half so miserable a lot of the time!).
IDK,,, maybe I’m just feeling artsy but I kind of like the water blur… sort of adds a layer of depth to what is a very lovely photo.
