I took the camera when we drove to Huntly this morning for the rugby, shopping and recycling run. I wanted to see if I could get a different perspective of the croft’s location by getting some shots from the side of Red Hill. I had to take the photographs from inside the Land Rover as the OH drove it slowly up the narrow hill road as there’s no space to pull over and a succession of blind bends make driving interesting at the best of times. To make the job even more challenging, the sun was low to the south and lens flare was a real issue.
Most of the images were not a success, but I did get these two. The first is the view to the south-west from Red Hill. The second is the view to the south-east, with Bennachie on the horizon at the left and Dunnideer just inside and below that. Our croft lies on a line extending from the front oleft of the saddle between the Hill of Christ’s Kirk and the Hill of Flinder, the two prominent hills just left of centre.
