The Other Half invited a few friends around for afternoon tea today. It was an excellent excuse for the boys and I to spend some time in the kitchen to come up with a few treats for the ladies…
Chocolate butterfly cakes with cream and raspberries: very light and very chocolatey cakes livened up with vanilla cream and a fresh raspberry, then dusted with icing sugar.
Sultana scones: served with home-made strawberry jam and lashings of cream.
Honey and almond biscuits: the biscuits were flavoured with vanilla and honey, then sandwiched with butter, icing sugar and honey.
Old spice biscuits: strong, crunchy biscuits flavoured with ginger, cinnamon and mixed spice—and strong enough for dunking.
Peppermint creams: made from icing sugar, egg white and oil of peppermint, with two-third dripped in melted chocolate. All served alongside large pots of tea, peppermint tea and coffee. With the ladies sorted, the boys, the dog and I went for a very long walk!

Wow! This looks amazing – you and the boys have obviously put tons of work in to it! Am going to try the fruit bomb muffins this weekend – they look delish!
Aw, that looks incredible. Drooling here.
It looks like I had better make a fresh trip to Scotland folks, as I can almost taste the goodies from Aust.
Wow! Impressive, guys. I especially like the chocolate butterfly cakes – I do a similar one with small victoria sponges, but have always called them angel cakes.
Impressive! I hope you tasted everything thoroughly before your walk!
Good grief, what a spread. If I served up a selection as good as this I couldn’t resist trying one of everything. Several times. And then people would be inwardly thinking “good grief, look at how much *she’s* spread”. Good job!
How fast can you get here? Also; bring the scrumpy.
