I’ve been busy making confectionery for the boys’ joint birthday party, then putting family history material online in my Facebook profile for various siblings and cousins to see. So, no blog post tonight.

The blog will continue to be quiet for a couple of days while I prepare for the party and then entertain a horde of small children (18 at last count).
did you get a new oven?
Have fun boys….and the wee ‘un and big lad too!
Have a great couple of days boys while enjoying your birthdays. Pop will be thinking of you at these times.
Hiya Stoney,
best of luck with the party! Just don’t do the party game my Dad did, for my sixth birthday…..
It was called “The Ghost of Long John Silver.” Each child would be blindfolded & led into a darkened room to meet the ‘ghost’ (aka my Dad). Then each would be asked to identify the respective body parts the pirate had lost during various fearsome & bloody battles….but I think Dad took it a bit too literally.
Rather than getting them to find the eyepatch on his face (for example) to imply he’d lost an eye, he actually put a grape into the palm of each little hand, rolled it around & told the child it was his eyeball; & for the stump where his arm had been cut off, got them to put their fingers into half a grapefruit etc etc….of course in those days, all seen as a bit of ‘harmless (armless…?!) fun’ (all the parents were present & thought it was a great idea).
Basically the winner was the child who proved bravest & was last to remove his/her blindfold; however the party came to an unfortunately early end; when the majority of children ended up in terrified hysterics, with several either wetting themselves (or worse!) or a couple, even being sick….& one almost fainted.
So; don’t try this at home, parents…! Well; it was certainly a memorable party. Mind you; for some reason it was a bit quiet the following year….
Hee hee – enjoy!
Twenty minutes until the hordes arrive. And it’s trying hard to be a blizzard outside—but not quite succeeding yet…
Looks like we won’t be playing Stonehead Croquet.
Happy Birthday, Boys…Glad to be able to birthday celebrationns from Wales down south in Wales
